Job Description

  

Summary

 

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for an Accounting Supervisor at SMG Jacksonville. Responsible for performing daily activities of the accounting function within the Finance Department and supervising the Jr. Accountant position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Supervise and provide guidance and oversight to junior accounting position

  • Supervise monthly audits of parking tickets and parking deposits and approve parking audit reconciliation spreadsheets

  • Work with Event Managers to ensure Events have proper accounting participation and close-outs

  • Assist Accounting Manager and Director in monthly financial statement preparation, yearly budgets, internal and external audits, and ad hoc reporting as needed

  • Work closely with venue directors, managers and staff to complete event reconciliations

  • Create and/or sign off on all Journal Entries, invoices and credit memos for events

  • Enter events into Tickler Calendar

  • Build and maintain event folders

  • Maintain accounts receivable

  • Ensure event advance deposits and invoice payments are coded properly

  • Approve daily cash receipts before recording into accounting software

  • Balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Verify and enter bank deposits into accounting software timely

  • Record cash advances and maintain Cash Advance Log

  • Monthly Box Office spreadsheet and entry

  • Monthly Archtics entry, including posting daily deposits as needed

  • Monthly Sales Tax spreadsheet and entry

  • Monthly Food & Beverage recording

  • Bank account maintenance and reconciliations

  • Maintain SAVOR Intercompany account and billing

  • Maintain Sponsorship spreadsheet and monthly recording

  • Quarterly Cash Audit & Reporting

  • Must be able to lead and train in the accounting and financial oversite aspect of Event settlements and close-outs

  • Must have strong organizational skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Must Have excellent interpersonal skills

  • Must have attention to detail

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills

  • Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events

  • Must have extensive knowledge of MS Office

  • Must have the ability to interact with all levels of staff including management and clients

  • Must have the ability to function independently with minimal supervision

     

    Education and/or Experience      

      

  • B.S. in accounting from a four-year college or university or similar combination of education and experience

  • 3 plus years of accounting/finance experience in a multi-building environment required

  • Experience with event settlements preferred

  • AR experience required

  • Thorough knowledge of financial and cost accounting

  • Excellent math skills

  • Knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software; willing to learn and use accounting and financial reporting software.

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics software a plus.
