Are you a SAFE driver with an EXCELLENT DMV record? Are you a "PEOPLE PERSON"? Are you RELIABLE, on time at work each day, patient and cheerful? MTD seeks to hire and train Bus Operators (large and small buses). No experience is required. As an MTD Bus Operator, you drive around our beautiful city, providing public transit. Our agency is appreciated as a stable working environment.  You could gain and build your job skills, meet interesting people and provide a valuable service to our area. * No experience is required in order to apply
* Related experience with good references is a "plus" for you
* Paid training for commercial license at $16.50 per hour.
* Hourly wage for drivers after successful paid training is $17.47/hour
* Annual increases to max $27.18 per Bargaining unit, Teamsters Union Local 186

1. Maintains Class B License, medical certificate and endorsements as required by DMV.
2. Follows all laws, ordinances and regulations applicable to the job.
3. Practices safe, defensive driving.

4. Performs duties with a pleasant, courteous and friendly manner. Provides accurate passenger information. Works cooperatively with other District personnel.
5. Performs pre operational check on the bus prior to any departure from the yard. Able to safely operate wheelchair accessibility ramp and lift as needed.

6. Adheres to all District policies, including, but not limited to the following: Routes; schedules; passenger and public relations; driving safety and personal safety; against drug and alcohol abuse on the job ; against tardiness; related to driving record and attendance. Learns all District policies during training, and all new policies or policy changes throughout length of employment. Acknowledges the authority of and responds to the guidance of supervisors.

7. Maintains the character qualities of alertness, care, and patience, and professionalism -- in order to respond appropriately at all times to the challenges of dealing simultaneously with traffic and the needs of passengers.
