Job Description

Stonington Institute is committed to providing quality substance abuse treatment options for adults in Southeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas.  We offer medical detox as well as residential addictions treatment for active duty and retired military service members in our North Stonington location.  Our clinic in Groton, CT, offers partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment, and is conveniently located across the street from The Inn at Trails Corner, a new 180 bed dormitory-style sober community for adult men and women who attend our outpatient day treatment programs. The Inn offers overnight accommodations, full-meal service, indoor/outdoor recreation options, a workout room, and computer center for all clients.

The Business Office Manager is responsible for all aspects of the billing and collection process, to include maximizing the collection of payments and reimbursements, overseeing verifications, billing and follow up on all accounts through collection.  S/He assists clients in understanding their benefits and guides them through the process of applying for state insurance if the need arises.  Also included is negotiating payment plans with clients and other duties to ensure accurate and timely billing and collection.  The BOM maintains and updates all contracts files, including annual rate renegotiations, reverifications necessary to remain in-network with providers, and negotiating single case agreements as needed.  This position reports to the CFO.

Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree and significant experience with medical billing is required, as is the ability to interpret insurance and other payer contracts. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally in person and in writing is necessary. Must be computer literate and proficient in use of Microsoft Office suite. Prior supervisory experience desired. Understanding of hospital business office procedures and managed care contracts preferred, as is knowledge of CT Medicaid system. Experience with financial software packages helpful.
