Iowa Western is currently seeking a Part-Time Culinary Lab Assistant to join our exciting, student-focused team at our beautiful, SW Iowa Campus, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
The work schedule will be during the day and up to 25 hours a week. This position will assist the faculty in instruction, organization and safety in all of the culinary labs, demonstrate and instruct cooking techniques to first year students, function in a team with program faculty to promote, develop and deliver quality education programs that are in the best interest of the students and the college, and organize and assist in teaching labs as assigned.
Qualifications: Associate's Degree related to culinary or 2 years of full time employment in the culinary industry and broad understanding of culinary skills and techniques.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, use a phone, and some travel including by vehicle may be required.
It requires prolonged standing, and sitting, frequent bending, stooping, and stretching. Occasional lifting of 10 lbs., reading, writing, calculating, social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, and ability to work with minimal supervision. High degree of problem-solving and high level of interpersonal skills is preferred. Hiring process includes ability to pass a background check.
