Job Description

Iowa Western Community College is currently seeking a Full-Time CIT Operating Systems/Networking Instructor to join our exciting student-focused team, at our beautiful SW Iowa Campus, in Council Bluffs Iowa.This position will be responsible for delivering all levels of computer and information technology classes as assigned by the Academic Dean. Must be willing to teach a variety of methodologies: face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and video conferencing. Assignments may also include teaching at multiple sites during the course of a semester. This instructor will also be responsible for course instruction and classroom management. Duties include, but are not limited to, teaching classroom and laboratory sessions, curriculum development/restructuring, committee assignments, student academic advising, student recruitment, assessment of student learning, responsibility for materials and supplies, and budget management. All candidates interviewed will be required to provide a teaching demonstration.
Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or other related field and prior Information Technology industry experience OR Masters in any field with 18 graduate hours in Computer Science, MIS, Cyber-Security, or other related field. Community college teaching experience is preferred and an understanding of community college philosophy and the community college student is desirable. Proficiency in systems administration, Windows operating systems, Linux operating systems is a plus, willingness to obtain certification of Cisco Teaching Academy.
Additional qualifications include occasional lifting of 10 pounds, the ability to sit or stand and walk for extended periods of time, use hands to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, and other basic office equipment, ability to work with diverse populations, and work is performed in a classroom environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and use a phone, and some travel including by vehicle may be required. Reading, writing, calculating, and working with minimal supervision, a high degree of problem-solving, organizational skills, and high degree of inter-personal skills preferred. Hiring process includes ability to pass a background check, a valid driver's license, and a good driving record.
