Interested in making a difference in the life of a homeless veteran? The Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans has an opportunity for a part-time House Manager to make a difference, impact, support and serve our veterans. Hours are Saturday and Sunday from midnight to 8:00 am.

Reporting to the Program Supervisor, this position is responsible for client and facility operations during the assigned schedule, implementation of the weekend routine, manage client treatment planning and responding to the 24-hour crisis line including the use of client intervention, assessment, and referral skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately enter resident’s data and service information into an established Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Establish and maintain rapport with residents.
  • Provide direct and indirect services; including linkage and referral to community service providers to assist residents reach their maximum level of functioning.
  • Implement weekend routine for residents including chores, room checks, etc.
  • Drive residents to activities outside of shelter.
  • Manage the facility to ensure the cleanliness of the facility at all times.
  • Answer the 24-hour MSHV line.
  • Provide support services to residents.
  • Complete daily shift exchange
  • Ensue needs residents are addressed.


Job Requirements
Qualifications and Preferred Skills

BS preferred in social work of related human services field.
Previous experience in working with homeless individuals, families, and veterans a plus.
Competent in Microsoft Office.
Excellent assessment and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of general safety standards.
Must have a valid Illinois Drivers License to transport residents
