Job Description

  

I.          POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

To work under the direction of the Maintenance or Production Team Leader or General Maintenance 'A' employee and perform a variety of less complex repair and overhaul work on plant mechanical equipment while receiving extensive on-the-job training towards achievement of General Maintenance 'A' status.

 

II.          ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

                                    In addition to extensive on-the-job training, responsibilities will include assisting General Maintenance 'A' employees in the following activities:

 

Maintain, repair, rebuild and fabricate parts when required for all types of industrial equipment used in the production of cement.

 

Performs preventive maintenance inspections, diagnose equipment problems and performs necessary repairs and reports findings to supervision.

 

Works from detailed prints and equipment manuals to fabricate parts and repair equipment as necessary.

 

            Performs gas and arc welding, layout, pipefitting and millwright functions.

 

III.         JOB SAFETY:

 

Take personal responsibility to translate safety policies, goals and standards from paper into action.  Follow prescribed safety policies, procedures and standards in completion of assigned tasks.  Complete all required inspections, audits, work orders and reports.  Communicate and document hazards and substandard conditions and/or acts.  Immediately correct substandard conditions and acts to the best of your ability.  Report all near misses to your team leader and assist as requested in near miss and incident investigations.

 

Full compliance with plant, state and federal safety regulations and general work rules.  Use of proper lock-out procedure and personal protective equipment.

 
V. OVERVIEW
This job description is written as a general guideline.  On occasion employees will be required to perform any function necessary to eliminate interruption of the production process or facilitate the safe and efficient operation of the plant as determined by Management. 
Job Requirements

IV. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify, applicant must be physically able to properly and efficiently perform the required duties. Must satisfactorily complete any required tests or examinations before being awarded this job. Applicant must possess the mechanical aptitude to progress to General Maintenance 'A' status.

Understanding of basic math

Safe and proper use of hand and power tools

Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals, drawings and blue prints.

Must have a good understanding of time frames and understand the production process.

Must maintain open communication with fellow employees and other departments to insure a safe
and timely job completion.

Testing, either oral or written or both, will be required from time to time to determine employee's ability and progress.
