IT Asset Management

Vendor Management Manage vendor relationships, and monitors vendor performance.

Coordinate with selected vendors on supply and delivery of purchased items.

Provide pricing quotes for items and preparing orders with suppliers.

Manage the SAM tool

Proficient with the institution's Software Asset Management tool. Enter and maintain information in the SAM tool to address budgeting, software compliance & inventory, contracts, and cost. Assist in the development of reporting to address management requirements to obtain information.

Identify Savings

Identify savings opportunities for renewals, software licensing, and services. Follow through with vendors and MD Anderson internal workforce members to obtain identified savings. Manage contracts and relationships to maximize value creation and costs for software licensing, maintenance, and service offerings

Job knowledge

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

License Compliance and Audit Readiness

Manage small to medium size projects that need to follow the IS Governance structure within the IS Division.


Collect information for budgeting, software compliance & inventory, contract summaries, and cost comparisons

Other Duties

Carry out special tasks at management's direction.

Job Requirements
Education Required:
Bachelor's degree.

Certification Required:

Preferred Certification:
ITIL v3 Foundation ITIL v3 Service Design,
ITIL v3 Continual Service Improvement,
ITIL v3 Service Offerings and Agreements Intermediate Certifications;
CITAM (Certified IT Asset Manger);
CHAMP(Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional)

Experience Required:
Two years sourcing or asset management experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis or completed years of college on a one to one basis.

Preferred Experience:
Knowledge of supplier management best practices.
Knowledge of asset management best practices.
Knowledge of state and institution-level contracting processes.
Ability to use various databases and asset management software.
