Manager of DeveLopment Data & Reporting

Location: Boston, MA, or Remote


As a key member of the Development team reporting to the Director of Development Strategy, Talent, and Operations, the Manager of Development Data & Reporting will be responsible for designing and maintaining key processes and reports, and monitoring and improving the Development dashboards and data systems that support the mission critical work of the Development team. This role ensures that Development team members and their partners know where we are and where we need to go to reach our goals. Working in collaboration with Development team members as well as a shared services team on the Finance & Administration team, the Manager of Development Data & Reporting will ensure that team members and their partners, including regional Executive Directors and members of the Finance and Administration team, have access to clear, current, accurate, and relevant information to achieve their goals, as well as simple and effective processes to support their work. This role will also work to deliver constant and continuous improvement in Development data systems and processes. This position will be can be either based out of Health Leads’ national office in Boston, MA, or remotely.



The Manager, Development Data & Reporting will join Health Leads with US healthcare at a crucial inflection point, in which the systemic oppression that leads to poor health outcomes, extraordinary costs, and rampant inequality can no longer be accepted. Tools, Reports, & Systems Design & Maintenance

*    With design input from the Director of Strategy, Talent, and Operations, implement or manage the design of operational systems and processes for:

o   Supporting national and regional team members in tracking and reporting progress to goals

o   Maintaining data in Salesforce and Box, including facilitating and supporting the creation of pipelines and opportunities in Salesforce for each appropriate fiscal year

o   Supporting the Development Communications & Donor Engagement stream in executing and tracking communications to supporters and the annual donor program, including managing donor lists

o   Enacting other aspects of the team’s funding strategy and alignment, as needed

*    With design input from the Director of Strategy, Talent, and Operations, and in collaboration with the Director CRM/Data Stewardship, inform the creation and testing of reports and dashboards in Salesforce, 15Five, Excel or other tools as needed to support regional and national frontline fundraisers, and to support strategic decision-making


Data Integrity and Tracking Progress to Goals

*    Maintain and ensure the data integrity of Development data in Salesforce, Box and 15Five (or other digital platforms as needed) collaborating closely with the Director of CRM/Data Stewardship

*    Collaborate with Director of CRM/Data Stewardship to inform on the design and implementation of Salesforce system enhancements, configurations, and data quality procedures

*    Onboard and train new staff members in our data and reporting systems, norms, and data integrity, and coach and correct all team members to ensure effective use as needed

*    Manage the creation and execution of systems and processes for payment reminders and payment processing for Health Leads donors, ensuring accuracy of all payment records in Salesforce and enabling proactive outreach to ensure timely pledge fulfillment

*    Serve as key operational link with the Finance and Administration team, ensuring accuracy of cross-team data that supports cash flow and financial projections and reporting, as well as the accuracy of financial and budgetary information that frontline fundraisers provide to donors


Analysis & Continuous Improvement

*    Conduct, manage, or provide guidance to others in creating financial or donor landscape analysis from data in Salesforce as needed

*    Design and implement—or manage the implementation of—systems for evaluating the efficacy of Development operations, including operating norms, formal processes and procedures, and tools

*    Manage testing cycles of Development processes to ensure continuous quality improvement in user experience and effectiveness



*    Minimum 3 years professional experience, with a minimum 1-2 years of experience in Development Operations (or an equivalent for-profit function that supports critical business processes)

*    Experience managing and leveraging Salesforce CRM for Development Operations (or an equivalent critical business process in a for-profit environment)

*    Excellent process and project management, implementation, design, and data-driven management skills

*    Outstanding problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with a detail orientation and empathy for user experience

*    Demonstrated ability to meet concurrent deadlines, organize time and priorities, and to do so in collaboration with stakeholders across different teams

*    Comfort giving, receiving, and responding to professional feedback

*    Strength in managing up, down and sideways in a diverse, fast-paced, results-oriented culture

*    Strong commitment to building cultural humility by continually learning and by actively promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work

*    If remote, this position will require limited travel as needed (i.e. for quarterly retreats)
