Job Description
Position Description:
Develops and integrates assembly processes and capital improvement projects to efficiently manufacture trailers. Leads cross functional teams to implement improvements to existing equipment, manufacturing methods and tooling.
Leads complex projects independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyzes equipment downtime to improve reliability and reduce maintenance costs
• Applies technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop equipment, fixturing, procedures, processes, tooling and/or automation
· Assesses process capabilities, identifies improvement opportunities and integrates new processes & equipment to maximize manufacturing throughput and velocity
· Collaborates with Manufacturing and Product Engineering to implement new production processes, which meet engineering and quality specifications
· Conducts equipment / process audits and leads necessary improvement efforts
· Develops process documentation to meet quality system and safety requirements
· Drives process / product enhancements through Design for Manufacturability / Assembly reviews with Product Development Engineering
· Ensures equipment reliability through the creation of design specifications, preventive maintenance instructions, run-off / validation standards and recommended spare parts lists
· Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout
· Initiates, develops and manages capital improvement projects including manufacturing equipment, facility enhancements and new product launches
· Leads CI / OPEX focused initiatives to achieve established SQDCME objectives
· Participates in cross functional planning meetings to evaluate future trailer specs for process, manning and equipment requirements
· Provides subject matter expertise for assigned manufacturing processes and equipment
· Trains and/or provides work direction to engineering technicians, maintenance associates, manufacturing engineers and manufacturing personnel
· Works with Manufacturing and QA to identify root cause of quality defects and implement permanent corrective actions

Job Requirements
Education Requirements: Vocational School or some College courses

College Degree Major Desired: Engineering or Technology (Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial)

- Proficiency using Microsoft Office software
- Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma training a plus
- Proficient in AutoCAD or Solid Works
- Demonstrated leadership of capital / continuous improvement projects focused on meeting corporate and departmental goals
- Effective at developing and managing a project plan to achieve desired results
- Proven ability to achieve required objectives through the leadership of others
- Ability to communicate with production associates, build relationships, work within cross functional teams (hourly/salaried) and gain consensus within work teams
- 2 to 4 years of Manufacturing / Process Engineering experience with-in an Assembly or Welding environment
- 1 to 2 years of experience with capital project management and justification
- 1 to 2 years of AutoCAD and Solidworks design experience
- SAP experience a plus
- Microsoft Project (or equivalent) experience preferred
- Metal Fabrication (shear, presses, turrets, laser cutting, plasma cutting) and MIG welding experience a plus
- Strong problem solving / trouble shooting experience
