Iowa Western is currently seeking Part-Time Early Childhood Childcare Associates to join our exciting, student-focused team, at our beautiful SW Iowa Campus, in Council Bluffs Iowa. This person will report to the Director of the Child Development Center. This position will be responsible for operating a developmentally appropriate early childhood education classroom in cooperation with other Associates and Lead Associates. Associate's assist in the implementation of activities for individual and/or groups of children within a specified age range, working within a child care center, classroom, or field environment. This position will provide individual and/or group direction, guidance, and supervision of children in the performance of development activities and have experience in supervising children.
Qualifications: Required: High School diploma or equivalent. We will train you in 12 hours of Essential Training and Universal precautions as specified by the Iowa DHS Child Care Licensing Regulations. Preferred: Experience working in a NAEYC accredited ECE program. Ability to instruct and successfully interact with very young children and/or adolescents. Knowledge of child development theory and practice. Ability to manage and provide for the health, nutrition, and hygiene requirements of infants, young children, and/or adolescents. A physical exam by a health provider will be required within the first 30 days of employment.
Additional Qualifications: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use hands to operate a computer keyboard, telephone and other basic office equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, use a phone. May require lifting average-weight objects up to 60 pounds, reading, writing, calculating, social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, and ability to work with minimal supervision. A high degree of problem solving and high level of inter-personal skills is preferred. Work is routinely performed in an interior/ office environment. Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risk, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals. Hiring process includes ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
Hours: We are hiring for 3 different shifts.
12:30 p.m- 5:30 p.m Monday through Friday
3 p.m.-5:30 p.m Monday through Friday
7 a.m-9 a.m. Monday through Friday
Compensation: Based on experience.
