Job Description

Position Description: Statement of the major duties, responsibilities, and supervisory relationships of a position. In its simplest form, indicate the work to be performed by the position (NOT THE ASSOCIATE).  

A Regional Sales Manager is primarily responsible for driving business goals in their assigned territory and/or with their assigned direct accounts. The external interface of this role includes working with independent dealers, factory owned branches, and in some cases direct accounts. Internally, this function interfaces with Customer Support Specialists, Engineering, Finance, Credit, Legal, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing and Transportation.

 

In this role, the Regional Sales Manager must exhibit a positive attitude capable of influencing both internal and external customers in an effort to solve problems and execute on behalf of the customer providing a winwin finality.

 

This individual approaches their assigned territory as the CEO of it and is ultimately responsible for the attaining the volume and profitability goals set by the annual operating plan process as well as growing the territory potential through organic growth of existing dealers, adding strategic sales outlets, and implementing sales programs and training across them all. In the case of direct sales, customer service experience leading to improved margins and increased volumes are at the forefront of expectations.

 


 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The purpose is to document the major duties and responsibilities of a position (not the associate in detail.  Please list 7-10 major responsibilities.

 

  • Exceeds sales goals for volume, profitability and growth

  • Manages and owns assigned territory

  • Builds strong relationships with dealer principals, sales personnel and customers

  • Forms a Strategic Plan for the territory and direct sale opportunities (if applicable) understanding strengths, weaknesses and opportunities

  • Participates in quarterly territorial reviews of assigned retail and direct sales channels in light of actual performance to plan and competitive influences

  • Recognizes market trends based on his communications with customers and recommends new product opportunities for growth

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


  
Job Requirements

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree

- Must have excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite Products
 - Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures and a broad knowledge of selling practices, concepts and procedures
 - Knowledge of SAP preferred
 - Must have knowledge of marketing and experience with a variety of sales distribution channels.
 - Excellent listening and problem-solving skills combined with strong ability to negotiate
 - Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
 - Must be able to work at all levels of an organization – both internal and external customers
 - Must exhibit excellent leadership skills and be a recognized resource within the sales and across the enterprise organization
 - Must demonstrate strong business acumen as well as a full understanding of the implications of business level decisions. Must be able to communicate all aspects of decisions to senior management.
