SENIOR SAFETY
PROFESSIONAL
Primary
Responsibilities: CTC is seeking a highly motivated
and qualified candidate for a part-time position as a Senior Safety
Professional. Primary responsibilities include:
Conduct portions of safety and health management system (S&HMS) assessments at a variety of Government and industrial operations locations. The intent of the assessments is to assist the site in determining the status of developing, implementing, maturing and sustaining a certified, world-class S&HMS. Provide technical support to military departments and agencies, their subordinate commands and their installations with S&HMS baseline assessments based on VPP criteria; Stage Completion Assessments to include OSHA Challenge participants; VPP application preparation support; onsite application readiness assessments; VPP Annual Program Evaluation Report preparation support; technical assistance to existing Department of Defense (DoD) VPP Stars to ensure they maintain their OSHA VPP Star Status and lost work day rates in support of DoD metrics; onsite S&HMS implementation support; and remote technical assistance. Conduct studies, analyzing findings, and preparing various reports. Provide support to the DoD – activities may include but not be limited with to working with Service stakeholders to facilitate specific accident reduction projects, reviewing and analyzing mishap data, assisting with education, training, and outreach related to DoD Safety work and S&HMS specifically, and potentially supporting meetings with the military departments and defense agencies as well as other federal agencies such as OSHA. Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Toxicology, Management, Chemistry or Biology plus 6-8 years of directly related experience, or a Master's degrees plus 4-6 years of directly related experience or a PhD with 2-4 years of directly related experience. Direct experience supporting S&HMS for the DoD or other federal agency, as well as experience with mishap and civilian lost-time data. Must have prior experience and familiarity with DoD safety programs, and subject matter expertise with at least one Military Services; preferably experience working in some fashion with all Military Services and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) sites and personnel. Willingness to travel up to 50% required. Knowledge of computer hardware and software for entry and retrieval of needed data. Ability to investigate and evaluate working conditions in order to gain compliance with occupational health and safety standards, policies and regulations. Ability to exercise tact and to be skillful in gaining the confidence and cooperation of all stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification Familiarity with OSHA VPPs
Clearance: U.S.
citizenship required. The candidate must have the ability to successfully
complete a background check.
